No exemptions will be given. All international students are admitted to the first year of study.

The full-time diploma courses offered by the Polytechnics are targeted mainly at fresh school leavers from secondary schools or ITE. Admissions to the full-time diploma courses is highly competitive. Applicants meeting the requisite requirements are considered for admissions based on merit and subject to vacancy available.

Mature students are encouraged to consider taking up part-time courses. If they are granted admissions to the full-time diploma courses, they are expected to be able to work with their younger classmates, generally in the age group of 17 -19 years old, in their course of study and particularly during group discussions/project work.

• The IGCSE/GCE 'O' Level English requirement is for holders of the IGCSE or any international GCE 'O' Level result (except Sri Lanka GCE 'O' Level).
• The IELTS/TOEFL English requirement is for holders of any international qualifications except all GCE 'O' level, Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, USA and International Baccalaureate results.

IELTS/TOEFL requirement varies according to respective diploma course’s stipulated English Language requirement.

Scholarships

The offer of these scholarships strongly reflects the Polytechnic's commitment to recognise deserving students for their outstanding achievements with the aim to further encourage and inspire them to excel in their academic pursuits. The award of these scholarships is made possible through TP and by the generous donations from reputable donor organisations and individuals.

• Tuition Grant (TG) Scheme - This scheme was introduced by the Government to subsidise the high cost of tertiary education in Singapore.
  
  

For International Students: You may apply for a Tier C TG if you have not benefited from TG previously to complete a course at the same or higher level of education. If you take up the TG, you will be required to secure employment and serve in a Singapore entity for three years upon graduation. Application for TG will be made available upon successful enrolment into the polytechnics. 

• Tuition Fee Loan (TFL) - All tuition grant holders may apply for TFL to pay up to a maximum of 75% of the Tuition Fee through DBS Bank.

International students may attempt to supplement your finances through part-time work. However, this should not be relied upon as the only source of finance. Part-time work must be done outside of school hours and co-curricular activities, and it must not affect your academic performance. Students are advised not to engage in controversial activities that are detrimental to the interest of Singapore and Temasek Polytechnic.

The Ministry of Manpower has indicated that full-time matriculated students holding a Student’s Pass in the approved Polytechnics and Universities are allowed to work part-time for a maximum of 16 hours a week during school term and work full time during vacation without a work pass.

The following is a general guideline of estimated expenses in Singapore dollars for planning purposes only.

Most international students choose to stay near the campus in Tampines, Bedok, Simei or Pasir Ris. This is to minimise the travelling time needed to and fro the campus and home. You may choose to rent a room from a local family. Alternatively, you may want to share an apartment with other students. Rental for a room in HDB public housing may cost about S$600 and above per person or S$400+ for twin-sharing. Rental of a HDB apartment could range from S$1,800 to S$2,500. Students are expected to pay at least one month advance rent and one month deposit.

Where possible, you should make arrangements for your accommodation before you arrive in Singapore.

Student's Pass

All international students must apply for a valid Student’s Pass at least one month and not more than two months before the start of the Academic Year at ICA’s Student’s Pass Online Application & Registration (SOLAR) system. 

Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will issue an In-Principle Approval (IPA) Letter to successful applicants. You must present this letter with your valid passport for immigration clearance at the Singapore Checkpoint. If you require a visa, this IPA letter also serves as a pre-approved visa.

Group Hospitalisation and Surgical Insurance (GHSI) for Full-Time International Students

TP has arranged for a GHSI policy to make hospitalisation expenses more affordable for all full-time international students. The policy is from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2025.

• Covers treatments up to 1 year of injury
