Overview

The Centre for Aquaculture & Veterinary Science (CAVS) is a purpose-built, innovative and technology-driven centre established to meet the needs of the aquaculture, pet, biomedical and veterinary industries.
 

CAVS aims to:

  • Provide quality services for the aquaculture, biomedical research and veterinary industries; 

  • Create an industry-ready workforce with relevant skills-based training through customised courses; and 

  • Promote collaborative research and development via a multidisciplinary approach to provide innovative solutions for the related industries.

CAVS strives to provide solutions:

  • to meet the needs of the aquaculture, veterinary, agritech and biomedical research industries

  • for customised continuing education courses for adult learners


Research Capabilities

 

  • Marine conservation and cultivation of aquatic plants (including microalgae)

  • Functional feeds development and nutrition analysis

  • Dietary management for gut microbiome health and diseases

  • Animal health and wellness

  • Water and waste management

Industry collaborative research projects:

 

  • A novel recycle aquaculture system from laboratory to full-scale application: Nitrogen elimination by high-efficiency spinning bed bioreactor and anaerobic ammonium oxidation chamber 
  • An innovative aquarium filter
  • Effect of dietary administration of safe organic compounds for anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic activities in food fish species
  • Production of animal feed and probiotics from recycled food waste
  • Applications of regenerative medicine in the treatment of diseases in companion animals

Level 1: TP Animal Clinic & Wellness and Aquaculture Innovation Centre (AIC)

Aquaculture Innovation Centre  

 

AIC launched in July 2019 and co-funded by Enterprise Singapore, strives to support and work with local SMEs in their aqua business objectives and farming needs with the aim of enhancing farming productivity and production.
