School of Humanities & Social Sciences (HSS) offers courses in humanities and social sciences with a focus on people-oriented specialisations. The school promotes a broad-based and holistic curriculum with specific career anchors that prepares students for work in a variety of people-related settings.
Through the Student Internship Programme (SIP), final year HSS students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to the workplace, where they will gain work experience with industry partners for a period of between 16 to 22 weeks, depending on the diploma. This experience will in turn provide our students with invaluable insights into the real working world.

"I benefited greatly from the mentorship program that my supervisor at TOUCH Community Services arranged for me. Throughout my internship journey with TOUCH, I was privileged to be given regular one-to-one mentorship sessions. My mentor, who has many years of experience in the ageing industry, was very generous in sharing his experiences. While he is very passionate and committed in serving the elderly community, he remained authentic in sharing the demands and challenges that he faced, and often complemented his sharing with good practices to follow. The mentorship sessions have definitely enhanced my internship experience. The insights and constant guidance from my mentor allowed me to gain confidence in my role and I was able to render the necessary support and add value to the team I was working with."

"My internship journey with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) was truly a memorable experience. Other than learning new skills, I also managed to learn more about the social service industry. My mentors would always share about their experiences and things that they have learnt from their past. They would also give me career advice to ensure that I make the best possible decision at all times. My mentors were very open and honest, which helped me get a better sensing of the actual working world. They were also very willing to take the time to attend the mentorship sessions although they had work to do. I would say that my mentors are the reason why I felt very welcomed when I first joined MSF. They are also the reason why I enjoyed my internship a lot and I am lucky to have them as my mentors."

“Care Corner Senior Services is delighted to have Temasek Polytechnic’s students under their internship program. The interns had shown keenness to learn, and were able to apply their knowledge towards programme planning and community work. By guiding the interns during the internship period, it not only affirms the work that the SACs do, it also gives the SAC teams a chance to share with the younger generation what is much needed on a social level.
