Course Overview

This module is designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills in computer engineering, with a focus on electronic and digital principles. It introduces fundamental concepts in electronics and digital devices, providing a comprehensive understanding through the analysis of basic functional circuits and their applications. Participants will learn to test and evaluate device parameters and analyse their use in simple digital and analog electronic circuits. By the end of the module, learners will gain practical proficiency and theoretical insights to better understand the role of these devices in everyday applications.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

What You'll Learn

This module provides students with basic knowledge of electronics. Fundamental concepts in digital electronics and electronics devices are taught through analysis of basic functional circuits and their applications. With the knowledge, students would be able to understand the functionality of the devices in common applications.  This subject also aims to develop in them proficiency in checking and testing the parameters of these devices, as well as in the analysis of their application in simple digital and analog electronic circuits.

 

 

Modes of Assessment

 

Written and Practical tests, Assignments, and Projects.

 

 

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Diploma in Engineering (Computer Engineering).
