Course Overview

This subject introduces the basic elements of IT security, and aims to familiarise students with the various IT security policies, processes and procedures, as well as best practices in the industry and government. Students will learn about the associated standards for risk management, and how to plan, execute, report and follow up on an information security management system audit.

 

 

Objectives

 

  • Apply the concepts of IT security;
  • Implement the different types of basic infrastructure security management;
  • Describe the purpose of an IT audit;
  • Apply audits to an infrastructure.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular courses which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Specialist Diploma in Information Security and Forensics
