This subject covers various diseases commonly found in companion animals, causes of diseases, modes of disease transmission, identification and recognition of clinical signs and symptoms, important zoonotic diseases, and One Health concepts. Students will learn the basic knowledge and technical skills to perform various laboratory procedures used for the evaluation of health and disease. It emphasizes the importance of sample collection and handling and processes for the study of animal disease. The processes and principles used to evaluate pancreatic, liver, kidney and other organ functions are also included. |

AVET305 | Veterinary Anaesthesia & Pharmacology
This subject addresses the basics of anaesthesia management in dogs and cats, and will include topics on anaesthetic administration, anaesthetic equipment, patient monitoring, and recovery. It will also introduce students to principles of pharmacology where students will learn the basic mechanisms of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and toxicology, drug classes and properties of common veterinary drugs, as well as its application in the preparation and dispensation of drugs. |

It includes basic concepts of the heredity and the central dogma, and applications of genomics technologies in veterinary science. |

AVET505 | Aquatic Animal Care & Nutrition
This subject covers various aspects of aquatic care, health, and diseases. Topics will include fish husbandry, health management and good practices, diseases, nutrition, and control and prevention of fish diseases. Various laboratory and diagnostic tests used for identifying fish disease pathogens will also be covered. |
Modes of Assessment
