In today's rapidly evolving digital economy, businesses require agile responses to market changes and customer needs, and so building upon the Skills Demand for the Future Economy (SDFE) Report 2023, there are strong indications in the Digital Economy for tech-lite job roles such as business development executives, data analysts and project/ product managers that require skills that enable businesses to oversee product management from concept to market launch, employing project management methodologies and agile practices to adapt to changing conditions.
The aim of the Specialist Diploma in Digital Product Management & Innovation (SDDPMI) is to equip students with the knowledge and skills of product management and innovation through the understanding of the design thinking process and product management frameworks.
This will ensure digital product or service design and quality are carefully considered, innovatively explored and are aligned to industry best practices. Ethical considerations and responsible use of AI in the implementation of digital products and services will also be covered. These skills will enhance the working professionals with relevant skills in their job roles.
This course consists of 2 Post-Diploma Certificates (PDCs).
To be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Digital Product Management & Innovation, students are required to complete 4 modules at SMU and 2 modules at TP. The Specialist Diploma in Digital Product Management & Innovation will be jointly awarded by TP and SMU to participants who have successfully completed and obtained a pass grade for the 6 modules.
Upon graduating from the course, graduates should be able to:
- Utilise business environment analysis, market research, and insights to create and implement effective business development plans.
- Apply design thinking and user experience design principles to create and refine products based on customer behaviour analysis and market needs.
- Apply negotiation techniques and manage stakeholder relationships to secure favourable deals and align interests.
- Perform thorough market research and utilise problem-solving skills to identify opportunities, address challenges, and support strategic decisions.
- Oversee product management from concept to market launch, employing project management methodologies and agile practices to adapt to changing conditions.
Modes of Assessment
The assessment would be based on a combination of coursework components such as written assignments, written tests, projects and presentations.
Certifications/Accreditations
To be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Digital Product Management & Innovation, participants are required to complete a total of 2 Post-Diploma Certificate. A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of each PDC.
