This course is co-taught by Trainers from Temasek Polytechnic and Health Catalyst Inc., a company that provides data, analytics technology and services to healthcare organizations. The course is conducted via in-person as well as online components and presents an overview of the fundamentals of statistics and data analytics skills, and information processing tools in data management. The application of statistics and analytics in healthcare operations will be covered and elaborated through facilitated sessions and practical examples. Finally, the contextualisation of the learnt concepts with the translation to better health care and wellness outcomes will be discussed.

Dr Tan Wah Pheow
Dr Tan Wah Pheow heads the Centre for Applied Behavioural & Social Sciences at Temasek Polytechnic. He is trained as a cognitive psychologist, obtained his bachelor’s and Master’s in Social Sciences (Psychology) from the National University of Singapore, and his PhD in Psychology with a minor in Statistics from Iowa State University. His area of expertise includes judgment and decision making, behavioural insights and human factors. Wah Pheow has extensive experience in conducting applied behavioural science research in collaboration with the industry. He was instrumental in setting up the Centre for Applied Behavioural & Social Sciences and the Behavioural Insights Collaboratory in Temasek Polytechnic and is also the lead researcher for the Behavioural Insights Collaboratory. Since 2016, Wah Pheow has directly supervised or served as a consultant to numerous BI projects that were conducted within Temasek Polytechnic, or in collaboration with external partners. Since 2018, Wah Pheow has conducted courses on Behavioural Insights for professionals from various industry sectors.
Dr Gabrielle Lai
Dr Gabrielle Lai is from the Centre for Applied Behavioural and Social Sciences. She is trained as a cognitive developmental psychologist. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and Masters in Developmental Psychology from San Francisco State University and her PhD from the National Institute of Education. Since 2011, she has lectured at Temasek Polytechnic with the Diploma in Psychology Studies and helped set up the Centre for Applied Behavioural & Social Sciences. Gabrielle has extensive experience in conducting research in various areas of psychological and behavioural sciences, including the area of Behavioural Insights (BI) where she supervised and collaborated on several BI projects involving both internal and external industry partners. She is also an associate researcher with Temasek Polytechnic’s Behavioural Insights Collaboratory and has conducted courses on Behavioural Insights for professionals from various industry sectors since 2018.
Ms Kek Chee Hui
Ms Kek Chee Hui is from the Centre for Applied Behavioural and Social Sciences. She graduated with a bachelor’s in social sciences (Psychology) from the National University of Singapore, and a Masters in Arts (Psychology) from the Nanyang Technological University. Her research interests lie mainly in Social Psychology and prosocial behaviour. Chee Hui has been involved with various applied behavioural science research over the years. Since the inception of Temasek Polytechnic’s Behavioural Insights Collaboratory, Chee Hui had been an associate researcher with the Collaboratory and had been involved in both internal behavioural insights projects and those with external partners. She has also facilitated behavioural insights courses for working professionals from various industries.
