This course is your gateway to a dynamic industry. You will build a solid business foundation and gain specialised knowledge in key areas like freight forwarding, supply management, and eco-friendly logistics. To be eligible for consideration for admission, applicants must obtain 26 points or better for the net ELR2B2 aggregate score (i.e. English Language, 2 relevant subjects and best 2 other subjects, including CCA Bonus Points) and meet the minimum entry requirements of this course. CCA cannot be used to meet the minimum entry requirements.

Worldskills Competition 2024

Employees with good skills are always in high demand! In our diploma, there are multiple opportunities to be equipped in niche skills such as freight forwarding and procurement. In terms of exposure, students have various opportunities to participate in prestigious competitions such as WorldSkills, Supply Chain Challenge and MaritimeOne Digital Challenge.  The course is proud of the excellent performance of Worldskills Competitions by ITL students on the world stage by winning two Gold medals and most recently in Worldskills Competition 2024.

Internships in fast growing industries and companies (such as Hitachi, DHL and SATS) guarantee ample learning opportunities and endless post-poly possibilities. Our diploma collaborates with Singapore Aircargo Agents Association (SAAA) on a Structured Freight Internship Programme (SFIP). Students on SFIP gain valuable exposure in the airfreight industry through their internship at one of SAAA’s member companies.

This subject introduces foundational management functions and how these practices are undergirded by psychology concepts and principles. This subject covers the fundamental principles of economics for understanding how individuals and firms make decisions. It will focus on the various aspects of the product market: demand and supply, elasticity, market competition and product differentiation. This subject provides an understanding of the basic concepts and practices of modern marketing. It focuses on the marketing role and the tools utilised by marketers in developing the appropriate marketing mix for target market segments.

This subject provides an overview on the strategies applied in global procurement as well as management of suppliers worldwide. Material management techniques in ensuring optimal purchase and production of materials will be covered and the use of technology (such as ERP and/or RPA) in managing materials efficiently will also be introduced.

The subject aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of advanced analytical techniques and their practical applications across various fields. Students will be grounded in the data analytics life cycle and will learn techniques to ingest, process, and analyse data using predictive analytics. This will enable them to translate complex data into actionable insights. Additionally, students will enhance their critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, ensuring accurate data interpretation and effective presentation of insights for decision-making.

The subject provides an overview on the roles of international trade in supporting the economy and the various aspects of transport operations, import and export procedures, international commercial terms and documents used in shipping and trade will be covered. Internet of Things (IoT) platforms used in transport operation such as route planning and optimisation will also be introduced.

BLO2010 Distribution Centre Management

This subject provides an overview of the role of a Distribution Centre (DC) in the supply chain. It also covers the various activities performed within a DC and the significance of these activities on customer service and total logistics costs. It focuses on the major resources to be applied in a DC and explains how they interact with one another in contributing to the DC’s effectiveness and efficiency. It will also cover the significance of providing DC services to the Third-Party Logistics industry.

This subject provides the understanding of concepts, theories and methods used in process improvement. Necessary background, knowledge and application of logistics and operations measurement techniques such as time study, work sampling and other relevant analyses will be covered.

BLO2020 International Trade & Digitalisation

This subject provides an overview on international trade operations in an increasingly digitalised world. Trade theories and concepts underpinning international trade will be covered. Technologies and digital trade platforms such as the Singapore Networked Trade Platform (NTP) and Blockchain, which are changing the way resources are allocated and affecting how international trade operates will be introduced.

BAF2007 International Finance

This module introduces the documentation, methods of payment and the responsibilities of different parties in international trade, including the banks. It also covers the risk exposures of international trade and the measures of risk mitigation. Students will develop a broad vision and enhance their understanding of the role and nature of finance in a globalised world.

ECC2014 Industrial IoT Analytics

This subject covers the essential concepts and skills needed for implementing digital transformation in smart manufacturing plants. It covers the application of industrial software platforms to wirelessly interconnect sensors, Internet of Things (IoT) devices and equipment. Students will learn to develop dashboard for acquiring, analysing and displaying data that is commonly found in Advanced Manufacturing. Modern approaches in activation of hardware and software responses when interventions are required for process improvement or corrective actions are also covered in detail.

This subject provides an overview of the logistics activities performed by the chemical industry and cold chain industry. It covers basic knowledge of the international and Singapore regulations that governs the logistical aspects of storing, handling and transport of hazardous chemical products and chilled/frozen products. Topics related to health and safety factors that are associated with the storage, handling and transport of hazardous chemical products and chilled/frozen products will be covered to give a good understanding of the practices in these specialised industry.

This subject provides an overview in freight management and focuses on the significance of freight transport and trade compliance in the global business setting. Topics related to freight tariff systems, costing, operational flows, key performance indicators, customs documentation and clearance procedures will be covered to give a good understanding of the practices in international freight and trade compliance.

BLO3025 Applied Project

This subject requires the final year students to put together domain knowledge learnt in the course in the areas of International Trade and Logistics. It covers the various stages and processes that are needed to complete an applied project. The first stage involves understanding the project requirements so as to decide on the project objectives and to plan the appropriate research methodology. The second stage involves the research, data collection, analysis and evaluation. For the final stage, the entire findings of the project are to be communicated to the relevant parties and industry partners.

This subject provides an overview of the logistical demands from e-commerce channels and focuses on the back-end supply chain management to support e-commerce. This subject covers the concept of logistics in manufacturing, manufacturing planning, purchasing, warehousing, and simulation. PC software will be used to enhance your learning.

This subject introduces the fundamentals of effective communication. It also covers how to communicate with and convince an audience through writing and speaking tasks. This subject provides essential skills and knowledge to prepare students for an overseas experience. They will examine the elements of culture and learn the key principles of cross-cultural communication. The subject prepares students to be responsible global citizens and leaders who can contribute to the global community through effective communication and collaboration.

GTP1302 Guided Learning*

The subject introduces students to the concepts and process of self-directed learning in a chosen area of inquiry. The process focusses on four stages: planning, performing, monitoring and reflecting. Students get to plan their individual learning project, refine and execute the learning plan, as well as monitor and reflect on their learning progress and project. The learning will be captured and showcased through a curated portfolio. The self-directed learning project will broaden and/or deepen a student’s knowledge and skills. Students will enhance their problem solving and digital literacy skills through this subject.

BIN1001 Innovation & Entrepreneurship

The subject is designed for learners from all disciplines to embrace innovation in either their specialised field or beyond. Learners will first be introduced to the Design Thinking framework and learn how to develop problem statements and ideate solutions. Learners will then discover the tools for prototyping and innovation at TP’s Makerspace+ facility. In addition, commercial awareness will be imbued in learners through stages in the LEAN Startup framework, idea crystallisation, prototype building, customer testing and validation, refinement of business model canvas, and crowdfunding/crowdsourcing.

This subject focuses on self-leadership based on the values of integrity, respect, and responsibility. Increasing awareness of self and others will lay the foundations for personal and relationship effectiveness. Consequential thinking, clear articulation of personal values and visions, emphatic listening, and collaboration in serving others are some of the essential skills covered in this leadership journey. There will be opportunities to build and to apply the concepts of being a values-centred leader.

This subject focuses on Service Learning as an experiential platform to apply the tenets of Self and Team Leadership. Service Learning will be the capstone project for this subject, which will require an analysis of the diverse needs of the community, collaboration with community partners and demonstration of learning, including key elements of empathy. There will be opportunities to build and to apply the concepts of being a values-centred leader.

LSW1002 Sports & Wellness

This subject reinforces the fundamental knowledge learnt on health, fitness, exercise and sports. Hands-in time will be allocated for a greater variety of fitness exercises and sports skills in a recreation setting. In addition, theoretical knowledge such as sports safety and risk management when participating in physical activities will be introduced. Guidance will be provided for improvement of physical fitness, acquiring of sports skills and relating theoretical knowledge to the physical activities.

TGS1001 Sustainability & Climate Action*

This subject prepares students to be responsible global citizens and future leaders who can contribute to the global community.  It introduces the topics of sustainability and explores how human societies can act to build a sustainable future. This subject focuses on the impact of climate change, potential solutions to climate change, and the future of the green economy from global and local perspectives.

WHEN DO I PAY?

There are 2 semesters in each Academic YEAR (AY). The billing periods for AY 2024/2025 are:
Semester 1:  15 April 2024 – 13 October 2024 
Semester 2:  14 October 2024 – 20 April 2025

Fees are billed and payable by semester. They are usually payable in June for Semester 1 and December for Semester 2.
