Preparatory English Language Programme (PrepEng) serves to emphasise the importance of communicating competently in English, as well as to equip students with basic language skills. This programme is specially designed for students with the intent to reinforce their English language fundamentals.
The modules focus on the grammar, reading comprehension and writing components of the English language. There are 8 modules in the content segment, where each module comprises interactive learning videos, activities and practice questions with answers. Students are also given supplementary reading materials to enhance their learning. At the end of each module, students will have to complete an exercise to assess their understanding of the module. If attempted consistently, a student will be able to complete the 8 modules within a term. The 8 modules are:
- Parts of Speech
- Reading Comprehension A
- Tenses
- Sentence Structure
- Subject Verb Agreement
- Reading Comprehension B
- Editing
- Report Writing
Preparatory Mathematics Programme (PrepMath) aims to help current TP students strengthen their foundation in Mathematics, so as to prepare them for Mathematics-related subjects in their diploma courses at Temasek Polytechnic.
The programme focuses mainly on two main content strands, Arithmetic and Algebra, which address the students’ fundamental skills and concepts. There are a total of 7 topics, each comprising interactive learning videos, diagnostic questions and practice questions with answers for every sub-topic. There is also a Proficiency Test for students to assess their proficiency level at the end of each topic. If attempted consistently, a student will be able to complete the 7 topics within a term. The 7 topics are:
- Numbers
- Algebraic Representation and Formulae
- Algebraic Manipulation
- Further Algebraic Manipulation
- Equations
- Indices and Surds
- Linear Relationships
