Course Overview
The SkillsFuture Work-Study Programme for the Energy & Chemicals sector is a 12-month work-study certificate programme leading to the part-time Diploma in Applied Science (Chemical Technology). It provides participants with relevant knowledge and skills in process engineering, occupational safety and health, environmental technology, productivity and quality management to support the continued growth of the chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Upon completing the 2 skills-based Modular Certificates (MC) under the programme, participants will be able to understand and apply the process engineering principles and knowledge relevant to the operational requirements in the chemical and chemical-related industries.
Academic Progression
Participants have the option to take up the remaining 3 skills-based Modular Certificates (MCs) to obtain the part-time Diploma in Applied Science (Chemical Technology).

What You'll Learn
Participants are required to complete a total of 2 skills-based Modular Certificates (MCs). Each MC can be completed in 1 semester, i.e. 6 months. A certificate will be issued once the requirements for each MC are met. Participants must complete these 2 MCs within 12 months.
Upon completing the programme, graduates can have the option to complete the remaining 3 MCs to obtain the part-time Diploma in Applied Science (Chemical Technology).

Modes of Assessment
The assessment framework will include a range of coursework components such as laboratory, tutorial and project assignments, class participation, tests, quizzes and examination.
Career Opportunities
The job role offered under this programme is a Junior Process Technician (Trainee)1.
Upon successful completion of programme, graduates may take on the role of a Junior Process Technician. They may also look forward to wage increment and role expansion in their workplace, subject to their work performance.
Upon successful completion of the part-time diploma course, graduates may look forward to taking up the role of a Process Technician.

Work-Study Certificates Leading to Diplomas
ITE Nitec graduates with GPA ≥2.0, OR
Higher Nitec graduates from the list of feeder ITE Nitec / Higher Nitec programmes in relevant discipline or equivalent
Work-Study Programme Incentives Eligibility
Work-Study Programmes sign-on incentives are extended to eligible Singaporeans who are:
- within three years of graduation from the Polytechnics/ITE or the Operational Ready Date (ORD) for full-time National Servicemen
