The Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance provides students with the necessary technical, mechanical and academic knowledge required to complement their working experience in aircraft maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and other aviation related fields.

No Subject
1 Aircraft Maintenance Practices

This subject covers safety practices on aircraft, hangar and workshop facilities, basic tools usage, and interpretation of engineering drawings as well as aviation hardware technology. Students will also be introduced to the fundamental maintenance procedures like disassembly, inspection, repair and assembly techniques as well as processes like riveting, pipes and hoses fabrication and assembly, control cables installation.

2 Aircraft Materials and Hardware

This subject equips students with the knowledge of the materials and hardware used in the construction, maintenance and repair of aircraft. The content on aircraft materials covers the characteristics, properties and identification of ferrous, non-ferrous metals and alloys such as aluminium, steel and titanium as well as non-metallic composites. The subject also covers corrosion recognition, prevention and control while the content on hardware includes fastening and locking devices, piping and transmission hardware and flexible control cables.

3 Computer-aided Design

The aim of this subject is to introduce students to three-dimensional models and preparing two-dimensional drawings, using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. General methods of dimensioning according to international and local standards will also be introduced.

Modular Certificate in Aviation Management & Safety

The certificate provides students with a broad understanding of aviation human factors, aviation legislation, project management skills and lean processes. Students will be given opportunities to embark on mini-projects to enhance their understanding of the subject knowledge.

No Subject
1 Aviation Legislation and Human Factors

The subject provides basic knowledge and understanding of aviation legislation and human factors for technicians and engineers working in Singapore aviation industry. It is also very relevant for students studying for their Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore SAR-66 equivalent modules for their aircraft maintenance licenses. Knowledge of this subject has a significant impact on the safety standards and responsibilities expected of the personnel working in the aviation industry and holders of aircraft maintenance licenses.

2 Project Management

This subject introduces the important aspects of planning various activities of a project, allocating necessary resources, project costing, and implementing and controlling the progress of a project till completion. A standard Project Management software package will be used in the subject to enhance students’ learning.

3 Lean Processes

This subject introduces the principles of lean tools and techniques to eliminate waste, manage inventory and improve product flow in a manufacturing organisation. Key concepts such as 6S, just-in-time (JIT), and process management prepare students to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.

3 more MCs to complete to obtain the Diploma in Engineering (Aerospace) (18 months)

Upon completing the programme, participants have the option to complete the remaining 3 MCs to obtain the part-time Diploma in Engineering (Aerospace):
